Katie Getz is a Chicago based artist and photographer.
Often, Katie travels from the city to her family's century old farm in northwest Illinois. As she creates trails and explores the land, she captures the light and shapes of this rural vista. She is inspired by the minimalistic patterns that emerge from the landscape.
Pre-pandemic, Katie enjoyed teaching art to children grades kindergarten through eighth grade at an after school program. She instills in her students the freedom to create outside the bounds of others' expectations or the pressure of grading rubrics.
She attended Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a degree in photography and printmaking. At SCAD, Katie was particularly focused on historic and alternative printing processes, such as cyanotypes and platinum/palladium prints.
